Calgary Transit - North West Line Extension to Crowfoot Opens (Click on Map to Enlarge)
On June 15, 2009, Calgary Transit's North West CTrain Line extension to Crowfoot Station was opened. Adding one more stop to the line, the project came in under budget, though it opened later than expected. Service on the original North West Line began on September 7, 1987 and ran between Anderson Station in the South to University Station in North West Calgary. The last extension of the CTrain system opened on December 17, 2007, when the North East Line was extended by one stop to McKnight/Westwinds Station. The CTrain system opened in 1981, and Calgary Transit boasts that the CTrain is powered by wind driven turbines. ***Click on the map to make it larger and more legible.***
